Arctic Adventure

Tales From the Road • March 26, 2014

Omingmak Frolics is an annual festival held in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, celebrating the arrival of spring in the Arctic. I was invited to perform my show, instruct magic workshops for the community, and share the story of Morton the Magician. I was also a guest judge for the local talent contest, where I witnessed a great display of the northern culture.

This was my first trip to the far north. Many things contributed to a unique and memorable experience, such as the blinding intensity of the sun reflecting on the snow, the 24 hours of daylight, and the remoteness of this community and its high level of pride and spirit.
