EFFECT:
Two separate pieces of string melt together into one.

MATERIALS:
A piece of string (approximately 1-2 feet in length)

SECRET SETUP:
Find the middle of the string and pull apart the different strands of thread.

Twist the two separate strands into two one inch ‘threads’.

This will make them look like ends, even though it is the middle of the string.

PERFORMANCE:
“The heat from your hand will melt the two pieces back together.”

Put the two ‘fake’ ends in your volunteer’s hand and ask them to close their hand tightly.

By you pulling on the two real ends, the ‘fake’ ends in their hand will unravel and go back to being the middle of the original string.

“The string has been restored!”
